Loved every minute of our stay. So convenient to everything. The staff were class A#1. They went out of their way to make you feel welcome.
A beautiful historical and authentically Italian property
Great stay. Friendly and helpful owner and staff. Beautiful suite for very reasonable price.
An absolutely beautiful historic hotel in a lovely section of town. Great staff, welcoming, thorough, thoughtful! And a delicious restaurant right on premises. Will look forward to returning!
The room was spacious, the bed super comfy, plumbing updated. Staff really nice, restaurant excellent.
Amazing staff, beautiful property and easy to enjoy Ravenna
Really great staff. Very friendly. They went above and beyond.
What a beautiful property. The location is amazing and the staff was wonderful. It is located right in the hub of the square yet not overcrowded. Tons of dining choices within walking distance. Highly recommend.
Amazing few days spent at Albergo Cappello and exploring Ravenna. Would definitely return. Well worth a visit.
Gorgeous hotel with amazing street Restaurant!
Fabulous from the moment we checked in. Large rooms, comfortable bed. Fantastic restaurant, tables on the street. Delicious food, great atmosphere. Staff very attentive and helpful. Loved our stay wish it was longer than overnight before a cruise.
This family run small hotel has the bones of a fantastic destination, but some issues to sort. Location in the dead heart of the old town of Ravenna, all sights walkable. Cafes and restaurants close by, opposite the Mercato for supplies etc. The good. Lovely decor, quiet rooms, big rooms and bathrooms. Lift access, bar and restaurant downstairs. Not so good. Air-conditioning, full blast with pedestal fan back up, not up to the job (we had two rooms same problem). Breakfast, continental served in the restaurant. Fruit nice, cold cuts ok, cappuccino with long life milk. Please this is Italy, awful. Two couples using two rooms, would we stay again yes but not in the peak of summer and we would have breakfast offsite in one of the nearby cafes.
Situated in a historic building in the middle of a beautiful area of historic sites, restaurants, and shopping, very friendly service. Ravenna does not have a strong public transportation network (yet), but everything you could want to see was in walking distance. Very convenient location if you are heading out on a cruise.
Just unique
I would return here , excellent hotel.
This property is absolutely stunning. They have kept all the history and we loved our rooms. We were a group of 6 and everyone loved it.
A beautiful hotel. AC was functional but not very effective. I was not informed there would be a charge for the water in the mini fridge, though I should have asked. Wonderful breakfast service and friendly staff.
A wonderful property having a great location, historical legacy in the town with beautiful Roman fresco’s throughout, great breakfast, very comfortable and spacious room with an accommodating staff ready to provide assistance in any way.
Dera at the front desk was absolutely lovely assisting us with changing our booking, giving us information, making reservations for dinner, serving us breakfast, etc! Never have had better service! Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. The restaurant on site was some of the most amazing food we’ve ever eaten! We could not recommend this place enough!
Wonderful place. Sorry we’re only staying one night.
We stayed at Albergo Cappello one night ahead of our cruise and it was wonderful. The staff was courteous and attentive, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and the restaurant downstairs was fabulous and reasonable! We sat outside for hours dining and watching the nightlife unfold. Highly recommended!
Directly across from the Mercado so fabulous location! Our room was clean and comfortable, staff very helpful. Guest house has only 7 rooms. Warning: although there is a lift all rooms require climbing or descending some stairs and no porters.
Sublime stay in Capello
This was a truly wonderful experience. We only stayed 3 nights but by the time we left we felt we knew all staff (especially Monica and Mauro) really well which is a direct reflection of their professionalism. We will be back.
Center of the old town directly across from the fabulous Mercato Coperto. A small guest house with only 7 rooms. There is a lift but all rooms require some stairs. The room was spacious - largest of the 4 rooms in the last 12 days. It’s decorated in keeping with the restored period building it is in. Like most Italian hotels in summer, the A/C is underpowered. Staff very helpful and welcoming.
Albergo Capello was the most beautiful place I had ever stayed. The murano chandelier in our room was magnificent. The front desk helped us with everything! My only concern was-no air conditioning. They do not run it before June 1. Because of all the mosquitos that were biting me I had to close our windows and the room was stuffy.
Great hotel and very friendly staff.
Excellent, charming. Breakfast options were fantastic; service was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family as well.
This is a lovely inn, situated right in the centre of Ravenna. It is within walking distance to most of the major mosaics sites and is also close to Dante’s tomb. The room is itself was grand, with high wood-beamed ceilings, a stunning hand-blown glass chandelier, and restored 14th-century frescoes on the walls. The included breakfast was good and the staff were wonderful, very helpful and very professional.
Our stay was delightful. This is a stately 15th century villa with marble staircases, crystal chandeliers and Renaissance-like windows with foldable wooden shutters that was built in 1468. There are original frescos on the wall.it is an easy walk from the train station and close to the famous Byzantine churches. The staff was very personable and accommodating.
excellent stay
The hotel is very well positioned right in the city centre. It is a beautiful Palazzo with historical frescoes. It is clean and staff is kind and attentive. Definitely recommend
Father daughter trip to see Ravenna. Mosaics, Dante Alighieri, walkable old town. This hotel is 10 min walk from the train station. We walked, our luggage was light. The streets are bumpy so perhaps taking a taxi from the station would be good idea for some. The people at the hotel and restaurant are very friendly. Monica and Dora took great care of us, their English was excellent.
Great location. I dropped my credit card in lobby, they found it and called me to return it. So honest. Also, they helped us with getting taxi to port, but our credit card would not go thru. She used her own private card and they let us reimburse her. That was very trusting of her and not expected. So nice to see there are still honest, trusting people in this world.
This is a charming hotel in the middle of the historic district of Ravenna. Breakfast was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a bar and a very nice restaurant.
What fun! Near everything a visitor wants to see, a wonderful restaurant, and in the center of a fun neighborhood.
Beautiful property in the heart of a lovely city We couldn’t recommend more highly
This was our 1st trip to Italy. Dora and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is dated back to Venetian times in Italy and was a real experience for my wife and myself. Prices were very were reasonable. Highly recommend this hotel if you're going to Ravenna.
Excellent location. Have valet parking for $20 per day. Easy walk to many sites, shopping, redtaurants, etc. Loved our stay and Ravenna.
Beautiful historic building in the heart of the town. Staff were all wonderful. Very helpful, especially in arranging our transportation.
The sraff were very kind and helpful, and the property had a unique charm with historical significance. It was a great experience!
Very good place
Very friendly and welcoming.
Just wonderful
A small, intimate hotel with an amazingly attentive staff, a truly terrific chef, in a beautifully renovated 14th century building. I wholeheartedly recommend Albergo Cappello!
This is a charming place to stay, a stunning building and the owner and staff are extremely kind and helpful. A gem.
Great, except parking is a nightmare
The hotel was nice, but the parking is very difficult and stressful, after finding the hotel + double parking she gave us wrong directions + we drove around streets we weren't supposed to be on + finally had to just pay for valet parking, which was $20 a day.
Great property! Staff was great, extremely helpful and accommodating. Delicious breakfast included as part of our stay.
It was a 500 year old mansion converted to be the first hotel in Ravenna. Impeccably clean and comfortable. Great staff and food. Wonderful location
Overall nice hotel
This hotel is fabulous with chandeliers of glass from Venice and renaissance frescoes on our suite room. Very clean and welcoming. I will definitely stay here again!
We had a lovely and very large room in this historical building; unfortunately the shower was not up to the same standards (we had to ask for the drain to be unclogged, it was difficult to get the water hot enough for a truly pleasant shower, and the shower doors leaked onto the bathroom floor). And I would have appreciated a kleenex box in the room. But I nonetheless recommend the Albergo Capello highly, both for its historical building and its excellent location in the historic center of Ravenna. And the staff was very friendly.
Ravishing Ravenna
This is a lovely hotel in a Renaissance building; the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful and speak good English. It has an excellent restaurant and it is superbly situated in the centre of the old town, very near other excellent restaurants. And near the most wonderful mosaics in the world - there are 8 UNESCO world heritage sites in Ravenna
Superb hotel, well located with several ammenities. Excellent value for the price.
Lovely hotel and staff!
Friendliness of staff Room was too small Elevator was out of order AC was a bit limited Good breakfast
Wonderful hotel in historic villa in the very centre of the city. All the major sites are within a few minutes walk. Parking was easy. Pull up in front of the hotel and they will tell where to park, or for a fee park it for you. All staff were lovely and food delicious.
The property is a castle that was remolded into a hotel. I loved staying there. Old world charm with modern finishes.
It is an amazing experience. The building, room, location all are so beautiful!
Disappointed
Although it was a unique hotel experience with pretty rooms and lobby, we were disappointed. The overhead chandelier was pretty but was intense as only light in room. Lamps would be nice. The AC was practically nonexistent. We were sweating all night and had to open the windows. It was a bit loud at night from the restaurants by hotel. We had some trouble communicating with staff, but i dont failt them for that.
In June 2022, our cruise line required COVID testing 48 hours prior to sailing. Because we were in international transit 2 days before departure, we used telehealth testing. Getting a printed copy of the results from our cell phone were very difficult in a foreign country. The hotel staff came to the rescue!
Amazing location with historic charm.
Super !
in town center close to restaurant and shopping
The owner and staff were very helpful in getting train reservations changed.
Old World charm
We loved the location of this hotel. It is in the pedestrian area, close to the activity of Piazza del Popolo. The parking was pretty easy once explained at checkin. The lot associated with the hotel was a short walk away and the attendant was very friendly. We didn't take the car out during our stay and we felt it was very safe. The building is a beautiful old residence. The breakfast was really lovely and we enjoyed sitting in the dining room each morning. Our room and bathroom were both vey clean, and very large. The bed was comfortable, but the other furnishings in the room were pretty worn. We couldn't even sit on the sofa because in sank in so badly. Covid precautions were maintained. Overall, would recommend as long as you can look past the tattered furnishings in the rooms.
Location superb, building lovely (alas elevator was broken), rooms pleasant. Price fine. Top recommendation.
Excellent location, comfortable room, very helpful staff
Perfect location close to all the sites and the main piazza.
Pretty room - but needs modernizingl.
The first room we had the air conditioner did not work. Apparently the city controls it and it was not turned on yet. The room was facing the city and too noisy to open the windows. They were nice enough to move us to another room, but still had to use fans everywhere and was a bit noisy. Also, the wifi barely worked, it kept going in and out. The people working there were very nice and the rooms are beautiful, but the place really need updating.
Everything perfect
Wonderful location, walk to everything. In beautiful old city Ravenna. Hotel built in 1400's, tastefully decorated, terrific restaurant with specialty of fish. Comfortable mattresses. Only 7 rooms so feels like a guest in palace.
wonderful small hotel - lovely rooms. quite - great service, great breakfast
Weekend street noise issues.
The staff, location, service, cleanliness, breakfast, and room amenities were great. However, street noise on Friday and Saturday made sleeping very difficult. The guests in the next room could also be heard very easily.
Location Location Location Location Location Location Location Location
This hotel is truly a great Venetian experience! The rooms are very clean except for 1 room in particular that has carpet. The hotel offers a good breakfast and great coffee. It is down the street from Piazza de Popolo, and a couple of steps away from truly great dining, and nice shops. Fantastic location, everything is within walking distances. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
Elegant, beautiful hotel. Quiet, very good location for walking to all the sites and shops in Ravenna. The restaurant there was excellent for dinner and the staff was very helpful and very kind!
Great staff and service. Very nice breakfast. Easy ck-in and room available early. However, our room was very warm with air conditioning not making much impact. 2nd night we were offered to move to a suite for a 20 euro extra fee. Much improved.
They put a lot of attention to details. Breakfast is very well laid out. Overall, I was very impressed.
A nice place to call ‘home’ as it is close enough to the train station, a pleasant walk to most of the sites with renowned mosaics. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom large and nicely equipped. The breakfast served in area with old world comfort, outdoor patio option as well. Nice sitting rooms optimize the building’s elegance. The area busy with locals (as well as travelers) - easy access to squares for cafes and restaurants. Follow the local youth to neighborhood gelataria. Albergo Cappello and Ravenna give a traveler a sense of visiting Italy - something the larger, tourist-dense cities lack during the busy late spring season.
Beautiful Venetian Palazzo
Beautiful old palazzo, good service and friendly staff. Small courtyard for breakfast. There was music until midnight and urban noise from 6pm but double glazing reduced noise somewhat. Excellent central location
Live like royalty in a centuries-old palazzo
Room was incredibly spacious, with super-high painted-beam ceiling and fresco fragments all around, and even a separate dressing area. The location was great, with all of Ravenna’s amazing frescoes within a few blocks walk. Restaurants and shops are immediately outside the hotel. Really can’t imagine a better option in Ravenna, plus it’s a great value.
Location is great, right in middle of old Ravenna. A 18 min walk to train station, surrounded by restaurants, sights and stores. Our suite was very large with lu xurious sheets comfortable mattress and pillows. The multi-paned windows blocked out a good part of the noise and their frames remove all light. One night , an adjacent bar’s thumping noise made it imperative to wear earplugs. Breakfast was good with tasty bread, ham. egg, cheese, as well as a rich tortes, cereals and good coffee. Personnel was friendly and helpful.
Comfortable stay in an exquisite palazzo.
Almost everything about Hotel Albergo Cappello was wonderful! We were upgraded to a suite, which was very roomy, in this historic and beautiful building. We were there in December, and I was grateful that we could control the heat in our room. Our street-side room was quiet, and the bedding was comfortable. The only suggestion I have to make the room better would be to provide a larger place to put clothes for two people. The staff was attentive and helped us arrange transportation to nearby Apollinare in Classe. We had an excellent dinner at the hotel's restaurant, and breakfast included many tasty choices; however, I must note that the breakfast room was exceedingly chilly during our stay. There was an electric heater behind us, but it was never turned on the take the chill off the room.
Difficult to get to with a car. Need better directions. Once there place is great and central Staff very helpful. Elevator not working.
Great location in the middle of the old town, old hotel that has been modernized while maintaining a strong connection to decades ago with original furniture, books, etc. in reading rooms. Excellent restaurant within the hotel. Breakfast was fine.
We were very happy with the location and elegance of the hotel. We were glad to recommend it to a couple that we had met a few days earlier in Venice.
Nice hotel, we were moved into another room and it was exceptional! Ravenna is a great, historic town.
Fabulous Centrally Located Boutique Hotel
Fabulous boutique hotel set right in the heart of Ravenna a few moments away from the main square. A wonderful historic building with beautiful seating areas with art books etc. Exceptionally helpful staff who also provided a valet parking service which worked well. Excellent restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The only problem was because you are in the middle of what seems a lively town and in a hotel with a popular bar it was noisy until very late but that’s the drawback to being centrally locates. Would definitely recommend.
Very nice hotel ; in the center; nice staff; delicious breakfast ; perfect for visiting Ravenna’s city and marina.
As we were travelling by train only, we enjoyed the position of the hotel in the center of the City, so we could reach all places of interest by walking around.
Amazing, need more time to stay here.
Friendly staff
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was ideal.
Beautiful hotel with excellent location
Very good service. Excellent personnel was very helpful. Very nice decor. New bathroom and very nice furnishings. Room was somewhat noisy due to mechanical problems in the kitchen. Air conditioning worked so so and WiFi did not work in some areas.
Beautiful hotel, excellent location and staff
After careful research for mine and my mother's Italian vacation centered around this quaint town of Ravenna, I selected this hotel. It was in a prime location; a market next door, a fantastic pizzeria around the corner and close to all the UNESCO sites we came to enjoy. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Monica and Anna were fantastic staff members we saw frequently at the desk and were very helpful in every way!
Ravenna hotel in an old palace.
The hotel is wonderful, with original ceilings from the 1600s, comfortable beds, pleasant staff, and complimentary breakfast. It is central; we walked to it from the train station, and we could walk to all the historic sites with fabulous ancient mosaics. This is also quite a town for shopping:everything from haute couture to 9 euro clothes.
Very nice hotel, perfect location in Ravenna
Perfect location Very nice room Excellent service----everyone was extremely helpful and friendly
Exceptional Ravenna
We stayed 2 nights, and would happily have stayed longer! The hotel is an oasis of calm, with friendly, helpful staff. Great restaurant! We especially enjoyed the wine! The UNESCO sites in Ravenna are truly wonderful! The historic centre is very walkable. So glad we went there!
Quiet but in the center of town!
The hotel is very cool, nicely decorated, great restaurant and near many of the world heritage sites.
Wonderful stay in Ravenna
Wonderful staff went out of our way to be helpful.
4 thumbs up
Beautiful 15th century building Helpful staff Central location Underrated town we found charming
Lovely hotel, great location
Fortunately valet parking was available as, like most old city centers in Italy, parking is never easy, especially for those of us not used to maneuvering the narrow streets.
Centrally located hotel with modern elegance
Ideally located with helpful staff. Rooms perfect temperature. More attention to small details required - kettle in room unplugged and difficult to reconnect, bedside table light not working, bolt on the safe came out with the key. None of this spoilt our enjoyment of the hotel, mentioned only for future improvement.
Beautiful property. Excellent, comfortable, large and very clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Excellent location.
