Incredible. Exceeded my expectations. Absolutely coming back here is I’m back in Lanta. Loved the area and hotel. Super quiet and comfy, plus very unique and situated in the jungle which I loved!!! My room was near the reception which was handy since some rooms are quite far. Breakfast was overpriced h recommend going elsewhere but nothing opens until 9am usually. Some awesome restaurants nearby!
Loved the pool access room we had. The morning sun was great. The only downside was the 114 stairs to get up to the room. If your older like myself and find stairs a challenge then maybe look for other easier access properties.
My husband and I just spent 4 nights at this resort. I can’t say enough about the staff! They were wonderful, especially Nuk at the front desk who helped us arrange a transfer off Ko Lanta. The resort is clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served every morning and the view from the restaurant was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This was an excellent resort. Its in a lovely peaceful position set back from the road with beautiful views and and very helpful staff
Great find
This is a gem of a find. Loved the small resort … pool fab breakfast great super air con and comfy bed … all the staff are so nice and friendly
Property was very clean with good facilities and friendly staff who were very helpful. 5 minute walk to all local amenities including 7-eleven, the beach, and a number of restaurants. Great pool view and easy to arrange any transport/excursions at the front desk. Would highly recommend a stay here.
Clean and serene with a treehouse feel
Great little place. Stayed here for 2 nights. the reception staff and all other staff we encountered during our stay were kind and welcoming. Also rented a scooter from them which was very easily organised. The room was clean and well appointed, you really feel like you’re sleeping in a treehouse due to the wooden structure of the room. So cosy and comfortable. Great nature sounds first thing in the morning. No issues with the bathroom; the shower was enclosed so no water leakage as other reviews have mentioned. Loved the chill out but underneath the room with the hammock and a beanbag (and overhead fan). The swimming pool is huge, clean and great for laps. The breakfast choice could be a little limited for some people but we love rice soup/congee so we were happy. I would definitely stay here again.
Great rooms and facilities. Only down sides were the room we stayed was quite a long stairway up and also very far from the main area of lanta
The staff was amazing too. Thank you!!
We had the 2 bed pool access room for 4 adults it was excellent being able to directly access the pool from your bedroom but there was only 2 bean bags to sit on no other chairs in property , views from our apartment over kangiang bay are beautiful the staff where excellent and breakfast was really good plenty of choice watch out for the monkeys though who come down looking for food the upstairs restaurant is closed and there is NO ALCOHOL. served or can be bought from downstairs restaurant as so if you want a wine or beer at lunch or dinner or any time you are out of luck but there is a 7-11 shop 2 mins away and the WHY NOT BAR a 5 min walk but prices are expensive for a beer 160 bht for a large beer in all it was an excellent place to stay this area is mainly Muslim so in restaurants you won’t be able to buy alcohol but the ones you can are pricey all in all it was a lovely place to stay and would come back again
Perfect for family!
Perfect place for our likes in Koh Lanta! Great for kids with a location a bit away from the hustle and bustle toward the North of the island. However can easily access through scooter.
An excellent stay in Koh Lanta - we loved the pool!
Good location on Lanta and value for money
Great location in the little Kantiang beach town. Perfect selection of restaurants nearby. The 1 bedroom bungalow worked well for couple with baby (if using carrier not stroller on all the stairs to get there!) and good view and style. Only downside was lack of chairs by the pool and breakfast which had selection but did not seem very fresh and emptied out too quickly.
What a wonderful place this is. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful. The greetings and smiles we received from all throughout our stay were lovely. The accommodation is great- futon style beds with great views from the floor to ceiling windows. Separate bathroom area and lovely decking with hammock and bean bag underneath the bedroom. Ceiling fans and air conditioning throughout. We were given a cot for the baby too! The infinity pool is amazing. Warm and spacious with great views across to the bay. Breakfast is good. It is served by the pool with slightly different, eclectic options (mashed potato, banana fritters etc.!) to accompany the eggs, fruit, pastries each day. The beach is a five minute walk from reception and the village outside the hotel is packed with lots of good, cheap restaurants. This place is really worth booking and staying at. Can’t really fault it for the price.
The room was a dream – beautifully laid-out and decorated, with thoughtful details. It was easy to get to the beach, restaurants, etc, and the resort itself was a delight. It was the perfect balance between privacy and access to the island.
Wonderful airy and well-equipped bungalows. Very close-by to the beach and shops. Thank you a very relaxing stay.
The Alama Resort is a lovely place to stay and is kid-friendly. There are a lot of steps to navigate, though, so it's not best for people with mobility challenges. The only problems we had during our stay came from inaccuracies in the hotel description--it's about 7-10 minutes to the beach and there is no bar at the pool (or in the resort at all).
Amazing hotel and staff. Very close to the beach, 5 min walk.
What a view.
All was good. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Waking up to that beautiful jungle everyday is a memory that will stay with me forever.
Good hotel, nice pool. Breakfast OK.
We absolutely loved this hotel. Koh Lanta was by and far the highlight of our trip to Thailand and that was in part due to Alama. We really enjoyed the beautiful views from our bedroom. Watching sunsets from the pool was simply amazing! Get ready to hear a lot of sounds at night - monkeys, birds, crickets - which we found fascinating. The staff were very friendly. We had to cancel a hotel-organized excursion just before departure and they were very understanding about it. The only negatives were that the maid had not replenished soap and tissue papers on the last day and the breakfast food was just ok.
Perfect location for us, nice and quiet! Easy to rent a moped from the hotel to go wherever you want! Lovely villa, beautiful view. Breakfast left something to be desired and two pillows would be nice! Otherwise great!
Great location, awesome pool. Loved the room. Only knock is they don’t serve alcohol, but the 7-11 just down the road has everything you need to carry in and they don’t mind a bit if you do.
Beautiful amenities. Pool and view from breakfast was stunning. A lot of cute and friendly cats on the property. We had a room with a view, so lots of stairs which was to be expected, but the paving stones were awkwardly spaced, so something to consider if you have issues with walking. Bathroom is downstairs from main room which is nice that its separated, but also awkward/scary at night. And no doors (just curtains) between toilet & shower and the rest of the space. Weak water pressure in the shower. AC wasn’t very strong. Super convenient scooter rental through the hotel. Free shuttle from the ferry, but the way back you had to pay.
Great infinity pool and views. Hotel is set back from the road so is nice and quiet but still only a 5 minute walk to a small town with plenty of restaurants, and the beach.
One of our objectives when staying in Thailand was to try and find unique properties. We were looking to experience something that we could not at our usual vacation spots. The Alama resort did a great of providing a unique experience. We stayed 5 nights and were quite happy with our stay. We stayed in a single room partial ocean view bungalow. The room was quite rustic and unique. We liked the split level design. The AC had a tough time keeping up with the heat but sleeping was comfortable. The outdoor seating area with bean bag chair and hammock was awesome and we used it a lot. The bathroom did not have AC which depending on time of day and activity level was quite hot. The shower and toilet were fine and the bathroom/entrance area was big and convenient and had a mini fridge. The resort does not serve alcohol but they were fine with us enjoying a drink around the pool purchased at the near by 7-11. The resort breakfast was quite good and very reasonably priced. Each morning there was a buffet style breakfast by the pool that had the usual British/American style offerings (eggs, toast, pastries, juices) as well as a daily Thai style offering. This was one of our better breakfasts and was well organized. The pool was quite nice and we had no troubles finding seating around the pool and the beanbag style loungers were pretty cool. The area around the hotel was great for us. Easy walking distance to the town and beach. The why not bar has daily fire shows
The property is beautiful and it seems like they have a lot that they offer, but my husband and I were very disappointed. The pool and breakfast were up a ton of stairs which wouldn’t have been so bad if we had any relief from the heat in our room. The air conditioning in our room didn’t work and only made the 95 degree weather more uncomfortable. We couldn’t get cold water in the shower so we couldn’t cool down. The bathroom was downstairs and every time you would go, you would drop sweat because the “air conditioning” is up stairs in the bedroom. Half of the lights in the room didn’t work and there were 30 light switches to try and figure out. Last but now least, we booked a mini bus from the hotel to our next hotel in Ao Nang and we were told that the mini bus would take 3 hours and take us right to our new hotel. The bus took over 4 hours, the isles were stacked to the ceiling with luggage, the A/C again didn’t work, and they didn’t take us to our new hotel. The mini bus took us into Krabi town and made us pay AGAIN to get on another bus. The entire stay was frustrating and I’m just glad we were only there one night.
Overall very good. Not sure in a few years... The only thing I dislike was the cats around during breakfast...
Walking distance to Kantiang beach.. resort is nice and eoom is huge. great atmosphere too. Poor internet connection during night time.. breakfast limited choices.. But overall was good.
Overall it was nice. I was expecting a nice view (like in the photos), but I looked out at the roofs of other rooms.
Amazing Resort in Koh Lanta
The resort is located in the south of the island, a nice, more quiet part of Koh Lanta. However, the resort offers everything you could wish for - from an amazing pool, nice restaurants to scooter rental (a must when staying in Koh Lanta) and other tours. The surrounding area offers some nice beach-bars and restaurants as well as some local shops. The rooms are nicely designed and offer a lot of privacy. The beds are comfortable, the breakfast is nice and all staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. We can only recommend Alama to everyone visiting Koh Lanta!
The Pool was amazing , the breakfast was really good. The views from the rooms our incredible. Loved the Villa
Highly recommend!
Staff was very welcoming, kind and so helpful! Really beautiful property. Close to the beach and near lots of good restaurants.
Nice location and friendly staff. Charged % to pay with credit card
Nice view. Close to beach. Food and others
Great place of escape from busy world. But be prepare to climb up the stairs. Overall staff were pleasant and welcoming.
The room was very nice. The pool was fantastic. Breakfast each morning was nice as well. The staff were fantastic each day. They were very helpful for us. The one blip was that we rented a motor bike and it had a leak in the gas tank. We were asked to pay to put gas in it to confirm this after we had already done so. Other than that it was very nice. The spa connected to the hotel was fantastic as well with the aloe vera massage, perfext for after a day on the beach.
Tree Top Bungalow, Ocean View - 10 Min to Beach
-Room: We booked the private bungalow and ended up with the highest one at the very top of the hill - which meant we had an amazing view of the ocean but long hike up. We were seriously out of breath after what felt like a million stairs every time we left the resort. Very close to great infinity pool and the restaurant though. There are many bungalows (some are much lower but without a view). -Beach is about 10 minute walk away and close to a few restaurants/bars/ 7-Eleven -Concierge was very helpful by email even before we showed up (We messaged the hotel right through Expedia to arrange a car) and they even helped me call another hotel. We rented scooters right from the hotel. Negatives: We had to leave at 5:30am to get back to the Airport on a tight schedule and the hotel assured us they would have staff come to our room to pick up our bags and carry them down the million stairs. We triple checked this as we had quite a few bags. We waited for 15 minutes and no one came and we couldn't be late so we navigated in the pitch black (no lights on anywhere) and carried our heavy bags down. I pulled all my arm muscles but the van driver was there waiting at the bottom - no staff anywhere. -The rooms don't have a phone to call the front desk for any issues (but isn't 24/7 anyway) -Also, if you arrive early, they don't have a room to store your bags as usual, they just leave the bags sitting in the front Outdoor exposed lobby which meant I was worried about them.
Beautiful resort, close to beach.
We loved everything about Alama. The staff is the best part and are the kindest people you will ever meet. Ahmed: you are a delight and Rich: you took such great care of us for our entire stay. The room (#15) was spectacular and was beyond our expectations; it's basically two villas (one for kids and one for us!) and a deck/balcony with the most amazing views. the food for breakfast each day was also wonderful and had good variety for all. And the NYE celebration they put together was also so thoughtful and fun for all the families there. Can't say enough good stuff.
Decent stay at the Alama
The good: - The staff is friendly and very keen to help with any issues - The hotel is located in the southern part of the island which is close to some lovely beaches but about 20 minutes drive from the main part of town which may be a negative for some - the breakfast was quite good with some variety - direct access to pool was a plus The not so good: - the room was very basic, lamps not working, sparsely decorated. Bed wasn’t that comfortable. Corners were a bit dusty - trash was outside our room at check in and left there for 24 hours. - lots of stairs to get to the rooms. - for the price we paid thought the room wasn’t worth the money overall
Perfect!!
Great property, stunning balcony and wonderful Views. Pool area is lovely!! Walking distance to the beach.... we are fit and enjoyed it but lots of stairs to take into account!!
Great family hotel with view of bay
Took a 2 bedrooms unit up on the hill. If you are able and don't mind the climbing, it has one of the best views. The 2 bedrooms are separated (on different stories) in a self-contained bangalow style "house". There's an open common area with a hammock and bean bags to chill. Porters where super helpful bringing all out bags up there (and later down when we checked out) Beds are comfortable. Toilet in the 2nd (lower room) a bit quirky as it does not have a door. If you are a couple in that room, I guess it is ok. Breakfast was...breakfast. Good spread but it does get boring. Eating place around Alama are great - Phad Tha Rock especially. Night time pretty quiet but walking distance to Why Not Bar or restaurants by the beach. Staff are helpful and friendly!
Great staff that was very helpful.
Awesome view
An awesome view from the pool and higher rooms. Construction going on next door so get the higher rate rooms for view, great under-room deck with hammock and quiet. Nice restaurant with simple but tasty breakfast. Other eating options and a beautiful bay nearby. Pleasant staff. Not recommended for the elderly or people with mobility issues as there are a lot of steps.
Nice infinity pool and view.
Breakfast below average. Hotel staff language communication sometimes misleading and twisted.
A beautiful resort in a very relaxing location
We had a wonderful time at Alama sea village. We stayed in a bungalow which over looked the green hills of ko lanta. The room was clean and very comfortable and we loved to relax in the hammock. We were also close to the beach and a selection of great places to eat. The hotel team were very friendly and always willing to help out and booked us into a number of superb activities. I want to go back!
Kind of like a luxurious treehouse
Beautiful new two-story villas with floor to ceiling windows and spacious lounging area. My only disappointment was that I ended up in the lowest villa with no view.
Perfect stay for Islands getaway
I cannot think of a better place to have based our island adventures. I am so glad that we chose to stay at the more tranquil southern end of the island--so much less chaotic and crowded than the main tourist centers up north. Even more so, I'm glad we chose Alama--from the facilities, to the food, to the tour arrangement/motorbike rental, the place way overdelivers for the price. Above all we enjoyed the staff--incredibly warm, helpful, and fun! Annie at reception will make you feel at home, make you laugh, and hook you up with the best deals available on tour and transportation arrangement. The spa experience also offers the best massages around.
awesome stay
very nice, awesome view.
Lovely rooms with an amazing view
The hotel is located on the side of a mountain and has lovely view across the landscape and sea, the rooms are lovely and good in size, would recommend to anyone but some rooms are quite high up the hill side and accessed by steps so the elderly my struggle but can always be accommodated near the bottom, great pool and hotel has moped hire which is good to get out and about
A room with a view and great value for money!
A fantastic room in a beautiful location. We stayed in the low season so we were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves - but because of this, the pool bar and spa were closed. Our room was clean, kept tidy and we had a stunning view - we could often see families of monkeys playing in the treetops from our balcony! Unfortunately construction work was taking place over the duration of our stay, so we were woken before 8 each morning by loud banging...not the wake up call we wanted! The breakfast was sufficient - a basic selection of eggs, toast and fruit made to order - it was perfectly adequate. It's a shame there wasn't a telephone in the room to phone for room service as we were quite a walk away from the reception and we encountered some problems when first using the safe. All in all, a fantastic little place - great value for money! If you stay here, make sure you head down to the 'Why Not' bar in the evening for fantastic live music and beach fire shows! We would definitely stay again - thank you for making us feel so welcome! :-)
Awesome place for a quiet getaway!
Great place with awesome view, our villa is well decorated and clean and tidy. The place is quiet and located a bit remote so good for getaway!
Rustic charm but not quite 4 star
We stayed for 5 nights in March and loved the island. Although the hotel has some charm and nice facilities - the pool is lovely - I would not call it 4 star. It was let down by the breakfast and associated kitchen staff ( selection was very limited and staff where not approachable), the hallway/bathroom in the bungalows (some people may be happy without a bathroom door but I'm not one of them, a curtain to separate the toilet from bungalow and bedroom is not enough) and aircon which would only cool the bedroom (not hallway) after about 3 hours On the plus side the location is great and definitely in the best village on the island, the infinity pool was lovely especially for a quiet early morning swim, very helpful reception staff, nice massage in the spa, lovely views of the bay and secluded feel
Beautiful, modern bungalows in excellent location.
This was definitely the best holiday resort we have ever stayed in! The resort really does have a village feel, not overcrowded at any stage and with all the bungalows built independently you really have the sense of privacy. The infinity pool is fabulous with views of the beach and sea a little in the distance. Everywhere was so clean and manicured to high precision without taking away the natural beauty feel. The restaurant downstairs and breakfast/ pool bar area were always fully staffed who were so polite and gave excellent personal service serving high quality food. The bungalows themselves were excellent and with windows all around the bedroom area you never had the sense of being trapped indoors, the private balcony area under the bungalow was an excellent area if you did want to be outdoors but in more privacy. The modern thai décor of the bungalow really made the experience and comfort perfect! The shower/ bathroom area was interesting as this was downstairs with just a curtain across a separate toilet and separate shower. At first it felt strange but actually was an excellent layout as it meant maximising space as the bathroom wasn't shut off so could allow one to shower whilst the other could get dressed or use the sink. It allowed plenty of privacy when required though being on a separate level to the bedroom.
The staff in reception very friendly and helpful. Pool bar was closed and you couldn’t get anything to eat. Breakfast selection a bit too poor. The room was clean and nice. Pool also nice, amazing view. When we arrived there was no toilet paper in the room. Mentioned that in reception but the house cleaning did not bring it. We had to ask it for 3 times.
Nice short stay
Unfortunately we had to run away due to coronavirus crisis but the resort is very nice, calm and clean. The pool is also pretty nice and has comfy beanbags to lay on. You can rent a motorbike directly from the resort or they have rental shops around, there's also a 7/11 and restaurants close to it which makes everything very convenient!
Rekommenderar verkligen!
Nice place
Very nice place and service. I can highly recommend it.
Rauhaa rakastaville
Mökit mäen rinteessä hyvällä näköalalla.Taatusti tsunamilta suojassa. Hyvä allas , hyvä ravintola.Upea kohtelias henkilöstö.Aamiainen OK.Rantaan noin 300 m.Hyvä rauhallinen paikka.Aktiviteetit puuttuvat
This was a serene stay with fabulous views and a tranquil setting. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our villa was clean with everything we needed plus lovely dressing robes and sliders for the pool. We most definitely would return back here, the beach, shops and restaurants were a handy walk away.
