Excellent value. Great position close to town. Would definitely stay again. All staff very friendly and helpful.
It fitted the bill perfectly for one night meeting up with friends. The room was very comfortable although on the small side but very clean and the breakfast was excellent. Everything was very fresh and my husband loved the non greasy excellent cooked breakfast.
The room and en suite were a good size and clean, except for the soap holder. The staff were extremely helpful (one got my mobile attached to wifi) and topped up milk and tea supplies. The amazing breakfast set us up for the day and the staff were friendly and gave assistance when asked. Accommodation to be recommended.
The room was basic but clean, in the bar the food and drinks are reasonably priced if you are just looking for a bed for the night I would recommend staying here as you are getting good value for your money
Needs New Matresses
Very clean, food good but the mattress was so uncomfortable we both did not sleep well. talking to other guests this was a recurrent theme
The best breakfast I have ever had in any hotel, anywhere. Good set up, good position for town and golf.
Could not fault anything! Would recommend the location without hesitation. Will definitely be back for another pleasantly relaxing break
Clean comfortable good breakfast mmmmmmmmmmgguugghghhhhh
Excellent value and breakfast!! We were very pleased with location and cleanliness. A different look than our other accommodation's and much more than expected. I would recommend this location every time!!
The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to the shops, golf and other sites. For the rest of this review, understand that this is a university dormitory - so it should be understood that you're not staying at a high-end or boutique hotel. The rooms are small, but suffice for 1-2 people with average luggage looking for an economical place to stay. (If you had 2 people with luggage and golf bags it would get a bit tight.) The TV is small, and there is only one chair/seating area other than on the bed. Bring an extra towel and shampoo/soap as there is only one medium towel + one hand towel provided. Mini bottle of shampoo and small bar of soap. Biggest issue during summer would be no air conditioning. There is a window, but with any humidity or temps in the 75(F)+/24(C)+ range it will likely get uncomfortable. There is a small vent in the bathroom that runs quietly all the time, but that doesn't circulate much air. Luckily, during my stay (mid-July) the local temps stayed in the 63-70 (17-21) range except for one day. The bar/restaurant off the main lobby were comfortable and offered some quick and tasty bar-type food (burgers, pizza, beer, etc.) and breakfast was served in the adjacent cafeteria. Overall my stay was pleasant, and as long as you're not expecting luxury accommodations and simply need a place to sleep and wind-down at the end of the day, this should suffice.
Walking distance from the birthplace of golf, which I played, ST. ANDREWS LINKS.
Good location, very close to the city centre and West Sands beach. Breakfast was lovely, nice selection. Shower didn't appear fully cleaned as there were hairs on the drain and on the wall.
It’s a nice place is your a kid with no money and need a place to stay. The name describes the place well and it’s a simple dorm room. Not too far from restaurants and pubs. If you can afford to play golf it’s probably a little underwhelming.
It was everything we needed at an excellent price. Our clean and comfortable room had excellent breakfasts included and all within walking distance of the graduation festivities at St Andrews University. Breakfast staff was cheery and welcoming every morning. We had a lovely stay.
All good. A bit difficult to find your room given the complex of corridors.
Graduation visit
Great stay for graduation visit. Room had everything we needed. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a wide choice of options however the hot food was a little bland.
Nice place to stay
Nice and clean room, comfortable bed and especially impressed with breakfast selection ,there was even a gluten free section with separate toaster. Also luggage storage facilities and laundry room with iron and ironing board. Value for money
Only thing I might comment on, was they changed some of our towels, gave us a fresh soap and new plastic glasses - we didn't need them and in this wave of trying to reduce plastic, would suggest not doing this.
Great stay. Great people.
Fabulous, well situated and excellent value for money. A great place to stay
Great value with simple room
Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. The location is good if you don’t mind a bit of a walk and convenient to the bus station. Breakfast was wonderful! Great value as other hotels were at least twice as much per night.
Great value for money. Not too far from city centre. Breakfast was superb.
Room far too small for two people who are travelling for some time with luggage. Poor ventilation in room- very stuffy. The one tiny window would not stay open due to a broken hinge. Reported but not repaired. Room not cleaned one day. Had to complain.
Good facilities in a pleasant setting.
Needed good, overnight accommodation within easy reach of the town centre. This fitted the bill perfectly. Clean, comfortable, safe with a very comprehensive breakfast.
Great place to stay Excellent breakfast
As expected for a dorm! The breakfast staff and cooks were wonderful and welcoming!
Simple and effective.
Very clean and in good condition. The room was small but comfortable, and the bathroom was of a good size. The staff on the front desk were very helpful at all times. Would stay here again.
Horrible memory
The equipments in the room are very old. Beside the room is very small. The shower drain jams. When we had breakfast, we found the bread was mouldy.
Quick Trip to St Andrews
As one of the other reviews says "you are staying in a dorm room". But it is a really nice dorm with a really friendly staff. The bar has a good selection of items to eat and drink for dinner. The breakfast was really good. Location is within a 10 minute walk to the bus station and town. The buses worked out well for getting around to some of the towns near by. Would definitely stay here again!
Nice place to stay
Staff were brilliant
Handy for the golf
Lovely Staff. Terrific breakfast and very clean and tidy accommodation. Rooms not large but adequate for purpose. Within easy walking distance to the golf course.
The staff were very friendly and efficient, and I haven't got anything negative to say about any aspect of my stay.
Wow. every staff member were so polite and very helpful
Matteess needs replacing
A basic room for a short stay in St. Andrews - Good Breakfast
St. Andrews is making smart use of their dorms while the full time students are on summer break. The room was very basic and small, but suited my purpose for a 3 day stay. St. Andrews is a great town to visit - whether you golf or not. The golf was spectacular. They serve a cafeteria breakfast that has everything you might want, even to gluten free bread, fruit, yogurt and a full Scottish breakfast fare. There is a pub also with drinks and food, but can't comment on its quality, as I didn't eat there. The walls are thin in the room and I could hear neighbors and TV occasionally. Shower curtains don't keep the water out of the bathroom floor. Staff are helpful and friendly. All-in-all a good value.
Don't plan on the cafe bar
The people at reception were very nice & helpful. The cafe bar was supposed to serve food until 9pm but when we went in to order something they said they had stopped serving 15 minutes ago (8:30pm). They told us we could get food delivered but didn't have any menus or places that would delivery. This was very disappointing because after a long day on the road we just wanted to get something to eat & relax.
First time stay but will definately use again.within easy walking distance of the town. Pleasent staff. Fantastic choice for breakfast.
Nice hotel/student accommodation
Good hotel, about 15 minutes walk to main high streets (I'm a slow walker though). Really nice and friendly staff. Good options for breakfast. Definitely would stay here again.
Great value for money
Great parking, breakfasts and evening food. Staff very efficient and helpful. Rooms are basic and beds not very comfortable. They could do with new mattresses. Also shower pressure is poor. Overall very good value for money and convenient location for town, beach and golf.
Excellent price for St Andrews
Very basic room - bed, wardrobe, desk and little bathroom - but great value for money. It's a 5 minute walk to the golf course and 15-20 minute walk into the town. Unfortunately our shower was freezing cold and the pressure really low which was the only real negative about the room. The breakfast was varied but not very flash, again ok for the money. Parking was a breeze and the staff were lovely. It's simple, basic accommodation for a cheap price - basically you get what you pay for. I would stay here again next time we're in St. Andrews
3rd visit to Agnes Blackadder Halls
Wonderful place!! comfortable and economical. It is our 3rd visit and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in St. Andrews and visit around this area without paying an arm and a leg. Breakfast superb!
Don't bother
The beds were awful. We changed rooms once because we could feel the bed springs. Second room had equally uncomfortable beds. While we knew this was a dorm, we expected we could get a good night's sleep. Very disappointed.
Close to venue
All good except for uncomfortable bed and the distance to walk to get to the room unreal breakfast was very very good staff pleasant and cheery ...near enough to the venue so no rush.
Memories of student days and great for that.
Visiting UNI. Like going back to student days but very acceptable and a good price.
Great location
Great location for our campus visit. The staff was helpful, friendly and provided assistance with laundry.
Great place to stay
I wish these type of student accommodations existed when I was in university. The rooms we super clean and the breakfast very well done. They also have a cafe and bar in the building!
Give this place a go!
Graduation ceremony at the University. Agnes Blackadder Hall is a great place to stay and definitely value for money. The breakfast offers a wide range of quality food and is a must if you decide to stay. I believe that the place was fully booked out but it was amazingly quiet along the many corridors. The location is also ideal and it is not a long walk to the Centre of St Andrews. If you are a golfer then it is only a short walk to The Old Course and the surrounding courses.
Good, Cost-Effective Option Close to St. Andrews
This place didn't feel like a residence-type accommodation. The staff were grade-A, darn near perfect. Pleasing and welcoming no matter when or what. The rooms were spacious and didn't undertake that prison-like feel that most places like this do. The breakfast is a nice, hearty touch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Graduation
2 nights around a graduation. All you need and a great breakfast.

I think you will find the accommodation very good. Clean with on-suite, everything you need for a basic stay. Breakfast too was very good, caters for everyone.
