Clean, modern, really nice rooms and bathrooms. Love the staff. And the bar is great - their G&T is fabulous. Super convenient to Duke and the hospital. Lots of quick eating nearby. Parking is a little tight otherwise is a total home run to stay here.

Amazing property and staff

The people that work here are unfriendly and unhelpful.. The man at the front desk did not know how to print a receipt and was not friendly. The cleaning staff wouldn't clean the room. After I finally did get a receipt, I was charged a different amount. I wouldn't stay here again because of the poor customer service and general incompetence.

Hotel is very nice and clean. Excellent fitness room. Bed was not super comfortable. Breakfast was mediocre.

Comfortable beds, free Starbucks downstairs. The person who checked us in was not friendly and barely spoke.

Very nice property and very close to downtown and Duke University. The inside bar was nice and bartender very friendly. The only thing that was a disappointment was that we were charged $15. to park at the hotel. Though it wasn't a huge amount, we've never paid for parking before at a place we were paying to stay at.

This was my first time at an AC Marriott hotel and I was very impressed by it .I like the clean ,modern room decor ( Scandinavian style I would call it ) I had a room with a king size bed , lots of space to place luggage , a nice sitting area with a leather couch , very nice bathroom! I would definitely look this up for other cities I plan to visit.

The hotel is new, the staff was nice, they have good food options and live music in the evening surprised me. Highly recommend it .

Hotel room was clean and modern and perfect for a 3 night stay for a conference and weekend getaway. Staff were friendly. We walked to the Duke football game (20-25 min) on Saturday night. Also had breakfast at Early Bird Donuts and lunch at NaanStop, which were delicious and right across the parking lot. No swimming pool. But fitness room was well equipped and had Peleton bikes and lots of weights and machines that I loved. Would stay here again when back in Durham.

We stayed here because it is close to Duke Medical Center and to Duke University. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly.

Really great stay!

I loved it and would definitely stay again, the hotel was really nice and the room was one of the nicest I've stayed at in a while. I was working at Duke and it was really convenient to there as well. My only two small complaints were my upstairs neighbors were annoying (not really the hotels fault), and it was a paid continental breakfast. But the room was surprisingly affordable so it's barely a complaint.

Average Stay

The only issue I had about my stay was that the A/C in the room wasn't getting that cold. I had expected it to be cooler in the room due to the heat outside, but it wasn't. I was able to switch rooms, but even when doing so, the AC still wasn’t quite cold in the next room I went to, but I am thankful for management allowing me to switch rooms.

After a (very) delayed flight, we arrived at the hotel at 2:30am. The woman at the front desk said she had started an audit she could not stop and made me and my very tired son sit in the lobby for a half hour while her computer beeped. Never seen anything like it. 0 stars.

Very clean and beautiful

The staff failed to disclose certain charges, like a parking fee. At the end of my stay I had two unapproved charges on top of a parking charge that I didn’t know was coming. I called to talk to someone about all the unapproved charges on my card after my stay and the manager was never around to assist. The person I spoke with said they did Not know why I was charged and would leave a note for the manager to call me the following day, which he never did. As of this writing, I will be reaching out for the third time to try to get this resolved.

Staff and hotel were great

Property was in excellent shape. Located close to Duke University and Duke Gardens. Very clean nice hotel!

The only complaint i have is noise bith from the road and the people above us. We could hear every footstep. They were not load people, but when they walked to the bathroom in the night you knew. Staff was excellent, very friendly. There are many places to eat close. We parked our car and walked to dinner and breakfast.

Very clean and modern

My husband and I spent 3 nights there while my husband had eye surgery. The hotel was extremely clean and had housekeeping service everyday which was very nice. The location of the hotel was perfect. Within a few minutes of the eye center and all sorts of food places. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is the bed. It's terrible. Other than that the hotel is a 5 star!

Evening check-in person was flat out awful. Not that I need to be welcomed but when the person is so disassociated from their job that you question yourself if they even work at the property, that’s bad. She could not have been bothered and went back to her phone, the activity I interrupted walking up to the desk, after my check-in. Also, while hardwood floors are a nice change to carpeted rooms, the noise from the floor above is maddening.

Upon walking in the smell was so beautiful the staff was friendly and clear. My room was what my husband and I needed for the night. The shower was bomb. I was very disappointed however in the quality of the breakfast.

The booking process was very easy and the staff was very accommodating to last minute changes we had. We definitely be using them again.

I like all of the above mentioned things. The hotel is an easy five minute drive from my daughter’s house, and she is the reason for my trips to Durham.

It was really nice but would be better if the fridge was better stocked and didn’t have to go downstairs for a Pepsi or a snack. Fill the room bar up then audit upon check out, you would probably sell more.

The AC in our room is noisy. The blackout curtains could not be fully closed, and we were woken up early for two days.

Love this hotel!

We loved everything about this hotel. The service was fantastic - our first night we were able to grab a snack and a drink at the bar and the service was so friendly. The entire hotel, from the lobby, to the elevators, to the room, was exceptionally clean. The amenities were wonderful! Love the hydration station on each floor where carafes were provided to fill with ice and/or water to have in our room, and we could fill up our water bottles for the day. Love the coffee, tea and hot cocoa available in the lobby at tall times. And we very much appreciated the bucket of umbrellas available for our use on a rainy day when we wanted to walk the Duke campus.

New wave

This new "stark" decor is not to my preference. The walls are very thin and we could hear our neighbor's talk and music/tv. Bed comforter was hot with no blanket option. Had to pay for outside parking?

Close to the area we need to go

Nice stay and staff. It’s hard to find rooms without carpet we’ll definitely be back every time for our visit to Duke.

The only con is that is not sufficient parking and there is a nominal parking fee of $12 applied to our bill without even ensuring that we parked on property. We were not able to find a parking space in the garage during our second night and had to park in the adjoining business parking spaces

We enjoyed our stay at AC Hotel Durham. Only issue was one day they forgot to clean our room. However, when I called, some one was sent right up to clean it. Would be nice if there was more selections or options on food menu.

First time in Durham for a game with my son. Did not know where to stay. Found it in line and was very pleased. Clean comfortable and close to our various destination

Superb location. Staff is friendly. Room was not the cleanest, but is fine. The parking fee was not mentioned at checking. We ended up paying 12 dollars per day for parking, which we could have save just by parking across the building. We do not like to encounter hidden fees. The issue with the parking erase any trusworthiness in the business.
