It's very close to all of the embassys.
Excellent service, reasonable price
Quirky hotel with good facilities
The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. With translation apps, they helped with a tourist sight reservation, ordered taxis, and answered questions. The restaurant staff were also nice and helpful. They made my breakfasts very enjoyable.
It’s a really lovely hotel, impressively artistic and beautiful. However, our room was VERY damp. The beddings were damp. Our t shirts became damp after we left them on the chairs for a day. After two nights, we couldn’t cope with the dampness any more and requested a room change. The new room was nice and dry. This hotel is a bit far from tube stations.
AC not working. It was cold. The art decorations were nice but I don’t care. Not much food/shopping options around. The staff were nice.
Firm bed
Nice firm bed.
+ Cheap + Art in the hallways were nice. - The customer service at the reception was poor. - Beds were quite hard. You could also hear people in the next rooms.
Really nice place!
Just stayed one night on the way back to U.S. Interesting hotel with all the artwork. Front desk personnel very good. Room freshly cleaned. Walking distance to a great area - food, clubs, shopping, etc. Nice breakfast! I'll be back to this one!
People is really friendly and with strong desires to help. Hotel is just wonderful
Everything is very clean. However, the towels in the room were broken.
Art themed hotel that is just a 13mins walk to Sanlitun Taikoo Li shopping district, Beijing. Being Canadian it's neat that this place is directly across from the Canadian Embassy. Friendly staff and place was clean. For the price I would certainly return.
Always watch where you are on all sides. Traffic
I loved the area. It is a mix of embassy high end and down to earth Chinese. It is lovely with lots of trees. The hotel is unusual and has regular art exhibits in the basement level.
The hotel is clean and location is convenient. Is's decorated with paintings by varieties of artists. I like the garden on 9th floor. The only thing that they could do better is to offer free drinking water and larger the size of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel....
We went for a dance festival, which was held in the hotel. Nice hotel, with most things I need. Staff have been helpful. Can find local food, as well as up scaled restaurant and coffee shops within walking distance.
The hotel is nice, it’s like staying inside an museum which in fact your are next to it. For the price I paid everything is quite nice. The only thing is the restaurant inside the hotel, although the decor is charming but the food is ordinary and a bit pricey. Other than that I had a nice stay
This hotel was great. Honestly, the only bad aspect was how hard the mattress was — everything else was on point.
Good deal for the price and neighborhood.
The hotel is nice and clean and OK for a short trip to Beijing. They did not have an English speaker at the front desk, but that is common in Beijing...the room was clean and smoke free. They have a nice art collection. Their lone atm did not work with my us credit card...and they could not exchange money for me, but it was very early in the morning when I asked, so it's possible the person responsible was not available. Overall, good deal for the price, especially is you want to be walking distance to sanlitun.
Close to San Li Tun
Close to San Li Tun, a popular shopping and nightlife area. Subway is a little bit of a walk but not too bad. I'd stay again.
STaff don’t speak english. The barrier language in that circunstances is more difficult.
Good Location + Clean Rooms
Very clean and located in a nice neighborhood. It's closeby to mass transportation.
15-20 min walk to the train station.
The small fridge in the room does not work correctly. It takes 3 days to slightly cool the drinks. The air conditioning does not function correctly. The beds are very hard. There is very little difference between sleeping on the floor or sleeping on the bed. Reception staff understand and speak some English. They are very helpful. Reasonably price. 15-20Min walk to the station. The airport express train departs from the local train station. Very convenient for travelling to and from Beijing International Airport. The local train station also connects with the underground subway to down town Beijing city centre.
THIS HOTEL IS NOT AN EMBASSY HOTEL
As I said, this hotel is not an Embassy Hotel anymore, the only thing it has from Embassy is the name outside the building, the new name is AC Art Hotel, I felt very disgusted because of it!!! it must be cleared by Expedia as soon as possible to avoid that persons like me get disapointed because of it!
Hotel Displaying Art
Great hotel. It is a unique hotel displaying art, particulary stone sculptures and paintings in each of the rooms and in the hallways. Great location as it is in Chaoyang District near great shopping areas and dining like TaiKooLi and the Ginza. Only things is that the beds are very firm.
One issue
Usually I overlook one issue as everybody makes mistakes. Everything was great at the hotel except for the bathtub. When the bathtub was used my S.O. came out after a few minutes with skin rashes all over her body. I believe this is due to left over cleaning agent or something in the pipes? The shower was fine so I do not believe it was the water. This is the only time anything like this has happened in any hotel stay I have had.
good location and arty hotel
The hotel is in Embassy areas, short walking to underground with light railway linking to the Capital airport. There are various buses to train station and city center. The hotel exhibits paintings and art works in every floors and lobby, even has a museum in the basement. The rooms are newly renovated. Lovely hotel with reasonable price.
Recommended
Great hotel. Great price. Super clean
Unique (art) hotel, convenient, value-for-money
Walking distance (10 min) from the end of the Airport Express line. Hotel has lots of interesting artworks and paintings, both in public areas and in the rooms. Rooms are clean, comfortable. Free wifi and complimentary breakfast are great. Some food choices in the immediate surrounding areas.
Recently updated and more comfortable.
I have stayed here many times over the past 7 years. They have recently renovated the hotel and now it is much cleaner and comfortable than before. I also like the close vicinity of restaurants, shopping malls etc. withing walking distance. It is one of the best bargains in Beijing.
Much Better than expected!
The hotel is much better than i was expecting having read prevoius reviewers reports. The 4th floor has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Book an execuvie room for comfort. Wifi is now available in all rooms. Use yahoo as Google is often blocked by the chinese censors. Avoid breakfast. Its very poor. Cold coffee and orange squash instead of real juice!
Good accommodation for a weekend
It was my second time at this hotel. No complaints on the first stay. But this second time not only couldn't shower without floding the entire bathroom but I also had to end showing the concierge my birth control pills to make a point when they tried to charge me for using the condoms offered for purchase at the room.
A very mean place to stay among numerous BJ hotels
How to say? The hotel seems special for those who are going to Australian or Canadian Embassy from other city, like me. Location is perfect, right opposite to those embassies. But when comparing with other 4-star hotels, it shows some weakness. The lobby is not well designed. The staff is not very friendly (hard to see smile on their faces). The door of my room doesn't work well sometimes which results that my room card can't open it at all! The aircon seems not working very well either. Even after I switched it to 28C and high, it is still cold in the room. The breakfast is OK, but only served till 10am...If you are going to the embassies and will stay just one night, you can consider about it. But if you are going to sightseeing in BJ, then better forget about it.
STAY AWAY
Lobby and restaurant cold, food horrible (hOT FOOD and coffee cold), breakfast included for one person only, rooms outdated and substandard, jazzuzi tub inoperable and unclean.
Good value
Hotel was fine. There seemed to be a moldy smell coming from the vents which was unpleasant, but otherwise for the price and location, it was fine.
Beijing can give you more...
this was an average hotel, absolutely no English speaking employees, u must have an interpretor to survive. My room-safe run out of energy so my passport got stuck - than a repairsman arrived and opened it wit 1 screwdriver... The boy was a little agressive towards our baggage.. kapt them shaking wild when the weels of it just could not turn... :) Must admit it has a very nice gallery, and i saw some nice italian artist sculptures and paintings - even a lithograph of Modigliani.
Bad Hotel
With the exception of the assistant hotel manager the service staff is useless and unable to understand English. The beds are hard as a brick as they are simplely box springs with a sheet on them, there is little water pressure so the toilet malfunctions, the air conditioning does not work and the staff was unable or unwilling to call for a cab to the airport since some of them were at lunch, nor were they able to send a fax.
bad location
not a hotel i would recommend for tourists. the front desk staff did not speak other languages. we were unable to get money changed at hotel. also hotel off main street and we were unable to get taxis at the hotel we had to walk to a main street and compete with locals for a taxi. very difficult.
Good Choice
Reasonably close to the Dongzhimen Subway Station and the Airport Express.
The dirties Hotel in the world I've seen
I would never recommend anyone to stay in this Hotel. That is the dirtiest Hotel in the world. I took some pictures of how "clean" the room could be in the Hotels to remember it forever.
China ia different
The room was good, the breakfast buffet was very good, house keeping very good, the a/c was BAD didn't work a lot of the time. Bath tub small. Front desk was nice
Ideal Hotel
The Hotel rates booking in Hotel.com was OK, however we need to stay two more days in Beijing and the rates was more expensive, maybe not according with the Hotel service, but in overal was fine for my requirements.
Can't wait to go back
The attention was excellente, people is all the timr redy to help you.
トランジットの間に観光するために宿泊しました。 部屋は広くキレイです。 スタッフも親切でよかったです。
Melhor lugar de Pequim
Lugar incrivel. Perto de um centro com bastante loja conhecida e restaurantes fast food. O hotel é perfeito. Todos os dias o pessoal arrumava os quartos e fazia reposições tanto de itens de higiene quanto as aguas (de graca) Com certeza voltarei
Very hard bed, uncomfortable to sleep in. Otherwise a decent hotel experience and central location.
Nice hotel. Very Firm beds. Nice breakfast. The AC had a cigarette smell.
I like the hardwood floor inside the room. However it looks dirt between the floor boards. It should have been cleaned up time by time.
